Kanye West compares his work to police officers, soldiers at war

The rapper takes the dangers of his job as a performer very seriously and says it’s all in a day’s work as he deals with public scrutiny.

The 36-year-old rapper also says constant scrutiny makes his job perilous. He said this during a radio interview, the rapper compared his daring stage maneuvers to the dangers facing a cop or a soldier at war. "I'm just giving of my body on the stage and putting my life at risk, literally," West said to host Garret  referring to his tour performances of songs like "Can't Tell Me Nothing" and "Coldest Winter," during which he stands on top of a moving mountain.
"That mountain goes really, really high," he continued. "And if I slipped … You never know. And I think about it. I think about my family and I'm like ‘Wow, this is like being a police officer or something, in war or something''.

West, who is not known for his humility, recently received some backlash for a satirical report that claimed he said he’d be greater than the late Nelson Mandela.

He described the extreme risk factors of his show, which includes 27 songs and several stage changes.
But West wasn't just discussing putting himself in the line of danger while performing. The 36-year-old rapper was also referring to the public and media scrutiny that come along with fame .
