IG demands update on abducted Bauchi, Zamfara girls

The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has demanded the progress reports on investigations into the abduction of four teenage girls, who were forcefully converted to Islam in Bauchi and Zamfara States.

The IG directed the Bauchi and Zamfara Police commands to furnish his office with the report on the abductions.

Sunday PUNCH had reported the abduction of three girls in Bauchi, namely Progress Jacob, 13; Blessing Gopep, 13; and Linda Christopher, 16.

EFCC searches Badeh’s house, recovers $1m cash

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has recovered $1m cash from one of the houses belonging to the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh(retd.), The PUNCH has learnt.
Our correspondent learnt the money was recovered after detectives searched a mansion located at 6, Ogun River Street, Maitama, Abuja.

Tears as minister, Ocholi, wife, son die in auto crash

It was learnt that the Sport Utility Vehicle in which the family travelled in, had a burst tyre on the highway, leading to the crash.

Ocholi, who hailed from Ogbabede-Abocho in the Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, and his third child were said to have died on the spot after the Prado-Jeep had a burst tyre in the rear and somersaulted several times.

BREAKING: Court remands ex-Chief of Defence Staff, Badeh in prison

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has remanded a former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, in Kuje Prison.

Badeh was arraigned before the court today on 10 counts of money laundering.

The arraignment was initially billed for Thursday last week, but had to be shifted because of the absence of Justice Okon Abang.

The EFCC had on Monday last week filed 10 counts of money laundering against Badeh and a firm, Iyalikam Nigeria Limited, accusing them of fraudulently removing N3.97bn from the account of the Nigerian Air Force in 2013.
